Through the use of generalized growth simulations, the Geauga County Planning Department has been able to illustrate two possible future scenarios. The first being growth in the absence of land use policies which would guide the overall growth in the county. The second map illustrates the potential for a combination of planned growth and development as well as preservation of critical natural areas and agricultural security areas. Implementing zoning and other land use policies that allow for the preservation of areas deemed important and worthy of preservation by the community and directing growth and development outside of these areas has the potential for achieving a balance which preserves ecological, economic and social benefits for the community.
